Every year at Christmas time Thomasville has Victorian Christmas. Its a couple of nights and they block off downtown so people can walk everywhere. The shops are all open, vendors in the streets serving yummy food and drinks, Christmas lights light up the streets, Santa is there, Dancing, Singing, etc. It's a lot of fun. And some people bring their dogs. So...
We thought it would be a cute idea to take Addison and Titus. Well, it looked a lot better on paper then in reality. Addison did fine, she was a little fussy towards the end so I ended up holding her most of the time and then I would switch and hold Addison. But EVERYONE wanted to see Titus!! Everyone had to pet him and ask questions about him. I promise I am not exaggerating! We had no idea he would be such a "big" hit. We would barely walk a couple of feet before being stopped. It took over an hour to just get down the main street and that was without doing anything for ourselves. By the end, Nathan was annoyed and turns to my grandmother and says, "You would think we had a Bear on a lease or a unicorn!!" haha Don't get me wrong, we love our dog and we are so proud of having a Great Dane. Part of the reason we wanted him was for the "shock and awe" when people saw him. But it really took away from our whole experience. We didn't get to go into any of the shops, we didn't eat or drink anything, we couldn't wait in line to see Santa or let Addison ride the train. We hardly got to socialize with anyone we knew. The entire night was spend talking to strangers about our dog. So IF we take him again, it will be in a few years after we have done all the fun stuff, but I'm not promising Titus will ever make it to Victorian Christmas again.
