Christmas Eve Traditions

Christmas Eve for us has become a combination of traditions old and new. On Christmas Eve, we go out to look at Christmas lights and then to Waffle House to eat dinner. This is one that Nathan grew up with. Waffle House would not be my choice...there is a reason people only eat there at 3 in the morning after a long night of drinking...haha. Anyways, I do it on this night without complaining to keep the tradition alive but if we ever live in a town with a IHOP we might be tweaking the plans. :) After looking at lights and eating, we come home to open one present. Growing up, I got to pick out one present to open. The new tradition is that we each get to a present that is new pajamas! That way we each get to look cute for pictures on Christmas morning.

We weren't too happy about the lights we saw this year. Most of the places we went to didn't have many lights. I LOVE Christmas lights and we didn't have lights on our house growing up because my dad wouldn't put them up. Our first Christmas we were in an apartment and this year we didn't need to spend the money. Because we are putting our house up for sale this coming year, I don't know if we will be in our new house by Christmas so it might not happen...BUT one year I hope to have lights!

This year, my mother and sister came with us. We were driving around and had just finished looking at Christmas lights. We were in the last subdivision that we were going to visit and went over a big speed bump, when Addison threw up all over herself! And so we pulled over and I guess from the smell she threw up again before I could even get to her. Poor baby! Wasn't sure if she was car sick or what but I wanted to get her home no matter what. Cleaned her up and changed her clothes and headed home. Once we got home we let Addison open her new pjs. I bathed her and took her through her night routine and then I spent a while cleaning the car seat and other stuff. Nathan and my sister went and picked up Waffle House to go. (even better) Afterwards, Nathan and I opened our Pajamas and I was impressed with the ones he bought for me! I kept reminding him that we were taking pictures and they needed to be more modest for the pictures. haha Still not sure why Addison got sick but thankfully she woke up Christmas morning in a really happy mood as if she had never been sick!
