I watched them play

I had gotten really sick Sunday night. We think it was something I ate for lunch because I was the only one who ate it and I was the only one who got sick, but I was up all night getting sick and even into the morning. So Nathan took care of Addison all day because I was too weak and dizzy and still not feeling good. By the afternoon I was much better and had promised to help put together a Christmas party for our mommy group so I needed to get ready and pull myself together. Nathan took such good care of Addison all day.

After a long coloring session with Addison and I, I said I needed to shower so Nathan took Addison and Titus outside to play. When I got out of the shower I heard squealing, so I looked out the window as Nathan was chasing Addison around the yard. And I just smiled and it warmed my heart. As I was getting dressed I kept peeking out to watch them and finally just sat for a while looking out the window as they played. Throwing the ball with Titus all while giving Addison so much attention. I enjoyed watching them push her doll in her outside stroller, every once and a while picking her up and twirling her around, coloring with chalk, playing chase. There was lots of laughter and plenty of squealing. I chose to ignore the fact that my daughter was wearing pajamas, tennis shoes, and a bow that didn't match either. haha It was a special moment. I couldn't help but think how far Nathan has come as a dad. It wasn't the easiest transition for him, but then again it was as easy of a transition for me. But I love watching him become such a great dad. And it means even more to watch him when they didn't know I could see.

I'll admit, after a while I couldn't take it, so I tapped on the window to get their attention and when Addison looked up with the biggest smile and shouted, "Mommy, Mommy!", that warmed my heart too.

  1. Aren't those the best times?!?! I always have a hard time staying away when I watch them, but I like nothing better than watching Jason give his everything to our kids. Nathan has become a great dad! Men just aren't into babies like moms are. I have a feeling you'll see more and more times like these! :)
