Halloween

Growing up I was never allowed to go trick or treating. We went to our church fall festivals or nothing at all. I never really cared that much to be honest. In our church it was always viewed as "bad" and the older I got I really didn't see the difference in getting candy from the church games or knocking on people's doors. But whatever. Nathan wanted his kids to trick or treat and I was a little hesitant at first, but felt fine as long as their were some ground rules. One of us will always be with them and they aren't allowed to dress up as anything scary. I don't handle scary things very well. The movies give me nightmares for days! I'm afraid of clowns and basically all people with painted faces. I do realize that there some people that use Halloween as a very demonic thing, but the majority does not and I don't think looking at as taboo is really necessary. haha

I asked Nathan what he wanted Addison to dress up as and naturally he choose...a Georgia Cheerleader! haha So that is what she was.

So Addison's first time trick or treating was my first time. And in a way, that was very special to me. I really enjoyed it. Nathan and I took turns getting of the hay ride and going to the doors. A few times we did it together. She really started getting the hang of it and liked reaching in to choose the piece of candy she wanted mommy or daddy to have! :) She didn't care at all about wanting to eat the candy so that was never an issue. We had a lot of fun. And I came up with what I wanted Addison to be next year. A cowgirl! And since everyone jokes about Titus being a horse, he is going to dress up as a horse and he is going with us. I can't wait!

  1. I totally get what you mean about it being special for you! I was allowed to trick or treat as a child but Derek wasn't and I think he really enjoys seeing the boys have so much fun with it! Addison looks SOOOO cute, and I LOVE next years Halloween idea! I think I already have next years idea too, and wish I would of come up with it this year lol...I will let one boy be a firefighter and the other his dalmation! :-)

  2. I love her little cheerleading costume. Josh would probably choose the same thing if it was up to him.

I know what you mean about the whole trick or treating thing. We never were allowed to go as kids, I kind of felt like I missed out (just because I didn't get to dress up, otherwise I didn't really care). Josh and I haven't really talked much about it. I suppose it depends on where we live too. My sister took London to a festival were they had a costume party and then trunk or treat, that was cool, and the first time any of us had ever done anything like that.

Anywho, she looked so cute, and looked like she had fun!
