Titus is 7 months old now. He is 31" tall. That is measured my the height of his shoulders. Friday he weighed it at 97 pounds. (at least 60 more to go!)
Nathan is out of town again for work. So tonight after putting Addison to bed, I took Titus with me outside to work in the yard a little bit. I was bent down pruning a bush when I heard a door slam and Titus barking at the same time. I turned and he was running after a guy I didn't know barking louder than I've ever heard. It scared me and I took off running to grab him. The guy was backed up against his car with his arms up and Titus was barking about a foot from him when I reached them. I softly told Titus it was ok and grabbed his leash. (We let him walk freely but leave it hanging in case we have to catch him or he wont come to us and we step on it as he walks away.) The guy was probably about 18 and. I explained that after he heard the door slam and then looked and saw him running towards the car, it just scared him. Luckily the young guy was more shook up than mad. It was kind of scary in the moment because I've never seen Titus do something like that. But afterwards, I was proud! Great Danes were estate dogs and bred for two things: boar hunting and to guard the really rich estate houses. I read that one of the reasons they need to be socialized a lot when they are young is because they can be trained to pick up on suspicious behavior. And I'm so glad Titus knows when to be protective. Don't think he would actually do anything to someone but the bigger he gets, I know that if he ran after my attacker, it should scare him off. Lord willing that will never happen! Here are a few more pictures of my big baby.

Haha yes I am pretty sure if that big boy ran up to me I would be scared as well! Good to know that you have him for protection and that he knows his job well! :)
