Addison & Titus - First Beach Trip - Lots of pictures

I got the wonderful idea that it would be so much fun to take Addison and Titus to the beach. We are trying to save most of our money, but decided we could drive to a beach in the morning and come home in the afternoon. Nathan and I had visions of him sitting under the umbrella, Addison playing in the sand at his feet, me laying out in the sun, and Titus walking back in forth to the water. A very peaceful trip...boy were we WRONG! haha

We paid money to get into the park and had to turn right around because dogs were allowed like the Internet had said, however, they weren't allowed in the picnic areas or on the actual beach. (just the parking lot!) So we drove to a new spot. Took a while getting the troops there because we walked a good while from our car. I tried to set up while Nathan went back for more stuff. Titus was running crazy, Addison was learning to walk on the sand for the first time. Nathan's pouring with sweat by the time he brings everything back, I can't get our umbrella to stay, Addison just put the second cigarette bud in her mouth! We finally get the area set up and take Addison in the water. Titus wouldn't stop drinking the salt water, so he threw up. We were trying to play with Addison in the water and Titus is running after other dogs he saw. Then we decided to try lunch. Addison was covered in sand from head to toe so I had to feed her on the run. She doesn't exactly sit still unless she is tied down. By this time I was getting pretty frustrated because I hadn't eaten and was trying to take care of the two of them while Nathan ate. I just had to dig something else out of Addison's mouth again. Nathan started laughing. I looked at him and said, "I wish you would stop laughing because this isn't funny at all to me!" And then he said, "This has just been so terrible that all we can do is laugh about it now." And I agreed. So from then on it was better. We realized this was not going to be anything near peaceful and that this was all about them. Addison and Titus had a blast! We were completely worn out. When it was time to go we took all four of us to the showers to rinse off. I took the two to the car while Nathan went back for the stuff. Titus wouldn't pee because there wasn't any grass nearby. I get Addison changed and cleaned up and start giving her a snack when I hear...without warning...that Titus is peeing in the back of my jeep! Never done that before! But because my dog can't be outside without drinking gallons of water, no really gallons, he had to go so bad. Had to wait for Nathan to get back and then I took Titus to the showers again while he cleaned the jeep. (Thank you Lord for Husky liners! At least all we had to do was wash it them off.) Finally we left. Get about 20 minutes down the road and Titus starts to whine. I asked Nathan if he thought we should stop and let him pee and he said no because he just went. And then he peed again! lol After we got home, I bathed Titus, bathed Addison, and took a shower. We ate and were all in bed early!

So my advice is...don't take a 7 month old Great Dane and a 1 year old to the beach at the same time unless you have REINFORCEMENTS!!

Started out peaceful. Sleeping in the car on the way.

Seeing the ocean for the first time.

Walking on the sand for the first time.

  2. This was totally an "am I having fun yet?" day. I love the pictures. You can't tell from your pictures that any of those tough moments were going on at all.
