sleep is in my future

Weston is starting to sleep better! He has been going to bed a little earlier than I would like actually. I try and let him stay up but he acts so tired and it seems like I'm pushing him to stay awake and making it harder on both of us. So I try and make him wait until at least 7 for his bath. He loves taking his bath. No matter how fussy he was before I put him in, he just calms right down. He has started splashing me with his feet. :) After getting dried off and dressed, we go into his room to nurse and rock. Some nights he goes right to sleep and other nights he cries for reasons I'm not sure of but either way, I'm usually out in 30 minutes. Two nights ago he slept from 7:45 to almost 1:30...from 2 to 5...and then from 5:30 to 7:45! I woke up rejoicing! I couldn't believe he only woke up to nurse twice in 12 hours. I had gone to bed at 8:45 so with the amount of time I was up, I got about 9 1/2 hours! But amazingly enough I was wiped out by last night. I guess one good night isn't enough to make up for over two months of bad sleep. haha Last night he went to bed about the same time and got up at 1...he slept from 1:30 to 3...from 3:30 to 5...and then from 5:30 to 7. So not quite as great, but still that longer stretch. Too bad I chose to stay up until almost 10. :)

My sister in law advised me when I was pregnant with Addison not to make night time fun and I listened and it worked. I am doing the same thing with Weston only I have a small night light that stays on in his room. I go in, pick him up, change his diaper, nurse, burp, and back down in bed. I never say a word to him. I don't kiss him. (that's really hard for me and sometimes I do by accident. hehe) I know this might sound harsh, but it works. During the day I talk to him all the time and give him tons of love. In my opinion I want to make it as uneventful as possible so that he only cares to get up to get his needs met and then back to bed.

Remember how I told you Weston slept on his tummy? Yeah, he doesn't. I don't even know if he did it again after I posted that. He now sleeps in one of those swaddler things on his back, laying next to a pillow of mine that has a shirt I've previously worn. I was trying all kinds of things out, but this has been what he's been doing for a few weeks so I think it is what we will settle on for now. Whatever works! :)

Here's my boy:

Have I told you how much I love him?? He is so cute and cuddly! I think he wake up every day with a little more chub. That night he slept so well, he wasn't really crying when he woke up in the morning and I went in there and he just looked up at me and smiled. Every time I see that toothless smile I melt!
