Christmas Blog

Christmas Eve we went to my grandmother's house to celebrate Christmas at my grandmother's house. She had a big honey baked ham that was amazing! We exchanged gifts and spent the afternoon there. Then after Addison woke up from her nap we went to my mom's house to spend time with her and Don. We stayed there until it got dark and then we loaded the kids to go look at Christmas lights. I love Christmas lights!! I keep asking Nathan to do some at our house but he says no. Maybe next year I'll borrow some ladders and attempt it myself. :) After looking at lights we went home and fed the kids and then we all got to open our Christmas Eve present that is always the same. New pjs. After the kids went to sleep Nathan went and picked up Waffle house, tradition, and we enjoyed it in quiet. (Next year we are going to IHOP!) :)
Here is Weston in his new pjs.

Don't have one of Addison in hers because I saw her open them but then Nathan put her to bed while I was putting Weston down and she was already tucked in and going to sleep when I came out.

Christmas morning Addison actually slept in. It was about 7:45 when she woke up and I was so excited to see her reaction that Santa Clause had came! I filmed it but have no idea how to load videos off of my camera. And unfortunately it got messed up and you can only hear the video and not see it. This was my first year really doing Santa. I never believed in Santa Clause growing up. I have mixed feelings about it now, but it's one of those marriage compromise type things. I think it's really cute to see her reactions to him and the idea of him. Santa brought her a purple 4 wheeler, a pink computer, and tic tacs in her stocking (along with other things) like she had asked him! Santa forgot that he doesn't wrap gifts and almost didn't give Weston anything but thankfully there was one toy he hadn't wrapped yet for him. haha It is nice he doesn't wrap because we were able to put the 4 wheeler together and have it ready under the tree when she woke up.

Here is Addison checking out her stocking! She was mostly excited about the Burt's Bees Chapstick!

After opening presents we had to rush to get everything together. Finish packing, run to the dump, eat breakfast, get everyone ready, clean up all the Christmas mess, etc. Then we loaded up and got on the road to head north. Traffic was nice because hardly anyone was on the road but NOTHING was open to eat lunch! Not even Crackle Barrel. Our only option was Denny's or Waffle House and we chose Denny's. They had a small printout menu that you could pick from. We agreed that we want to avoid traveling on
Christmas if we can in the future. It took some of the joy out of it by having to rush to get the house back in order and get done what we needed to leave and then being on the road for four hours.

We got to Conyers just as Nathan's parents were going to a Christmas party hosted by friends of the family. So we stopped in there. I didn't know many people but it was nice to get to meet them and for Nathan to see people he hadn't seen in a long time. When we got home it was snowing!! They got a couple of inches and it was beautiful to watch! The day after Christmas was when we had Christmas with the "Gambles". We had a big brunch. It is always good to see everyone. Each time we are together it makes me wish we lived closer to his siblings. The next day Nathan had to work at one of their stores so I hung out with my inlaws and took it easy. Yesterday we packed up and headed home. Now I'm sitting in a mostly picked up but in need of cleaning house and up to my ears in laundry! ;)

I'll post pictures from our visit in a separate blog.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
