Why International Adoption?

There are some people who aren't very supportive of us adopting internationally. There are some that aren't supportive of us adopting period. There, I said it. But the fact is, it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks. We aren't doing this for them. We are doing it because God asked us to, we are doing it to bless this child who be loved more than he could ever dream, and we are doing this for the amazing blessing it will be to our lives. I'd love nothing more than for everyone to welcome this child/children with open arms. I pray that when the time comes those that aren't excited about it will have a change of heart!

At first Nathan and I were undecided about Domestic vs. International but we have received our answer. There are many reasons why we choosing international. I am not saying that foster to adopt or domestic are any less wonderful. It's a personal choice that we came to came to based mostly on the fact that God has put it in our hearts. Now that we know for sure we want International, we can begin praying about a country!! :)

I want to share this blog with you. It's written by the husband of my best friend from when I lived in Texas. I cried all the way through it! I love how they share about the boys being so excited, the truths about how privileged our children are, and how they shared Christ's love with strangers. I know it will be a couple years before we get to bring our child home, but I cannot wait for Nathan and I to share a similar story!

  1. I don't understand why people are not in favor of you giving a better life to a child who would otherwise not have it. Go for it, Jen! I can't wait to hear where it will be. This child will be such a blessing to everyone who meets him or her. You are in for an exciting adventure!

  2. I think it's awesome! God calls us to take care of the widows and the orphans, and you'd be fulfilling one part of that with adoption, no matter where the baby was born. So excited for your journey, even if it is a long one. I know God already has such wonderful plans for your next child to join your family.

  3. Maybe I am too "accepting" sometimes but I cannot stand when people try to discourage others from doing what they feel they are called to do or just doing what they feel in their hearts is right for them to do. I'm excited for you guys and am so happy that you guys are following your calling and your dream. Best of luck in your journey!!!

  4. I think it's totally awesome that God has put this on your hearts together. What a gift to offer a godly home to a baby from another country! Kudos! May you continue to be God-led in this endeavor. He will provide!
