Gambles...Family of 5

Two weeks ago we went to eat with our friend's Heather and Michael and their son. It was Friday so naturally we went to a local pizza place. While we were there Heather secretly told me that she was surprising Michael with a weekend away. They were going back to Savannah where Logan was conceived and hoping the stork would appear a second time. :) I asked where Logan was going to be and she said they hadn't been able to find someone so he was going with them. Immediately I wanted to offer to keep him but needed to wait to talk it over with Nathan. When we got in the car I told him about it. We both agreed we should at least offer.

Logan arrived Saturday morning and we took him home Monday evening. Three full days and two nights as a family of five. Honestly, we had fun!! It was work though. On Monday I told Nathan even though we spent all weekend together I felt like I hadn't spent time with him at all. We were constantly running in different directions and instead of playing man to man, we were playing zone! haha The neatest part to me was the fact that we did so much all weekend. We took all three kids shopping in Tallehassee to several stores, including SAMs, and out to lunch. Sunday we went to my mom's all afternoon to swim. Monday I took the oldest two grocery shopping and then we gathered with friends and family for the 4th. Even if I do say so myself, we handled two 3 year olds and a 9 month old very well. Nathan was such a help!! All three were in bed right at 8 both nights. Sometimes that doesn't even happen with two!

Logan is used to us so he did really well. He started asking about his parents the second day but never cried or acted real sad. Addison and him played real well together. He thought we were crazy singing and dancing around at first and then joined right in. Throughout the weekend Logan told me several times, "Mrs. Jennifer, I like coming to your house." So sweet!!

It gave us a taste of what it will be like when we have 3. Lots of fun, lots of work, and lots of love!

  1. He does love you guys! I loved that the next week he called Mr. Nathan on his "phone" to chat. :) And that Logan called y'all his "best friends."

Not sure that anything "took", but we SOOOO appreciate the opportunity! And it was a completely wonderful feeling to not worry about him in the slightest. Miss him, yes, but never worried about him!
