Let me start by saying that last night was rough! Nathan is gone again and I was trying to be overly cautious by locking both the deadbolt and handle to the garage door since I notice that our garage windows were open. I went to bed about 10:45. Later than normally but when Nathan is gone I put off going to bed because I have a hard time falling asleep. About 11:15 I heard Addison crying. I went to her room and asked her what was wrong and she said, "Mommy I really have to go pee pee." I took her to the potty and she went right away. First time that's she has done that! :) Got her tucked back in and laid down and Weston started crying. Well he was up again at 1:30, 3:50, 5:15, 6:15! I never slept for more than an hour at a time. Yikes! He had been only getting up once or twice a night lately! So anyways...I was tired! I had been going through the morning trying to get us all ready to take Addison to school. I poured coffee creamer in Addison's sippy cup when I was trying to give her milk. I search for minutes for the hair tie that i just knew I had gotten out of the drawer...I did and it was in my mouth! And then I went to warm up the car. Well remember how I locked both the dead bolt and the handle? Our handles are the kind that you can lock from the inside and then turn the knob and walk out but it wont let you back in. I was locked out of the house. I started to panic. I didn't have a cell phone, I didn't have a coat and it was 24 degrees outside, and both my babies were inside! I checked to see if the gate was open to our privacy fence. Thankfully Nathan forgot to lock it back because it takes a key that is inside. Went back to the Tahoe to see if there was something I could use to get in the house and saw for whatever reason Nathan had left his knife in there. I ran to the back deck and started cutting the screen on a window. Before bashing it in, decided to check and make sure it wasn't accidently unlocked. It was! So I opened it up and climbed inside. By that point Addison was standing at the window watching me because I had tapped on it to get her attention. (Better knowing where she was than wondering the house getting into something! Thankfully Weston was locked in his bouncy seat.) So I climbed in the window and it was off to school we went.
The cold air and adrenaline sure woke me up!! First thing I thought of was, "If I can get locked out and break into this house in 5 minutes...just imagine how easy it would be for someone who knows what they're doing!" We picked a home security company we are planning to use and have a consultation set up so I hope to have that very soon! And we will be getting me a gun also. (but that is for a later blog...)
Thank you Jesus for getting me back inside my house quickly with very little damage done and my babies were both safe!
