Remember when you were a kid and you went on vacation and you were so sad to go home? It really didn't matter what you were doing or where you were at but it just seemed better than going home. Now that I'm an adult, I look forward to going home some times. Sad to leave loved ones, or sad to know that it will be the same old routine, but excited to be back in my house with all of my stuff and my normal surroundings. I was thinking about this as Addison was begging us not to go back home and to stay at her granddaddy and darhma's house. I would have liked to stay longer, but part of me was just ready to be home too. Most of this was due to my getting very little sleep that night before thanks to my son. :)
The car ride went really well! Shortly before getting off on our exit we were in stopped traffic so Weston was not happy and he cried some as we got closer to their house at each red light. But for about 85% of the time, he just slept! The ride home was about the same. At one point they were both asleep and I told Nathan, "Maybe we should keep driving because once we home it's going to be crazy." and a few minutes later little man woke up and was screaming and we wanted out of the car as soon as possible! haha
Holidays are hard in some ways because we are so excited to see our family and it's usually just for one day. There are so many people that you don't get to actually spend much time with any of them. But at least we do get to see them!
My mother in law and I did some shopping again this year. It was chilly and raining and I had Weston so I just wasn't feeling it as much. Next year will be better because I can go kid-free! But I always enjoy spending time with my mother in law and our talks in the car to and from. I'm thankful that my mother in law and I have a good relationship because I know some women don't have that and I think it's important.
Our trip was over so quickly. Aren't they always? I can't believe we looked forward to going since Weston was born and now it's over. By the way, he is officially two months old.
