Several years back, I started cutting Nathan's hair. We had been dating for a few months and a couple times when we would be spending the day together in college and I was there when he got his hair cut. With the tip, I think it was $15. After a couple of times, I thought "I bet I could do that." So I mentioned it and he was all for it. We bought a kit and invested in some higher quality scissors and I started doing it. It used to take me a while because I had zero experience but now it takes about 15 minutes. The hard part is finding time in our busy schedules to do it or want to do it! I love Nathan's hair shorter and how it looks right after it's been cut, but it always seems like we go longer than we mean to between each cut.

Still using the same kit and recently replaced the scissors for the first time. Overall, I've estimated we are saving about $150+ a year! Pretty good!
I cut Josh's and Elijah's hair too! We were recently talking about how much we save, because Josh likes his hair short all the time, so we usually cut it at least 1-2 times a month! And it definitely adds up!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'll never forget when I started cutting Charlie's hair. It was HIS idea. We were just married, and he needed a cut. He suggested that I could do it. I told him I'd never cut hair before, but he insisted that it was ONLY hair, and would grow back.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to report that he has NEVER had anyone else cut his hair since we married. Makes me feel all "Little House on the Prairie."
By the by, my Aunt was a hair stylist, and mailed me some professional scissors. I've been using them for 20 years now.
We do all the cutting too. Josh's is pretty easy, we just use the clippers all the way around, but I do it and trim around. Josh also trims my hair, because I often don't have time to make a hair appointment. So, unless I'm wanting a new due, then Josh trims my hair. A lot cheaper that way!
