Honestly, I felt like I was totally prepared for this. Nathan and I talked about doing this before Addison was born. My sister in law put her kids in at two and it worked so well. We signed her up in January because we knew we were going to try and get pregnant. I think she is going to love it! This will allow me to run errands with just one child and spend some alone time with Weston. It will give Addison the opportunity to be stimulated and play with kids her age. I think this is really important since the first few months I will be so busy with Weston and it should help the transition better. She will be going three mornings a week from 8:30-11:30.
I say "felt" like I was prepared because today when we were meeting her teachers and seeing the classroom I had to fight back tears a couple of times. It was as if all of the sudden these pregnancy hormones were welling up inside of me. It was so cute to see her finding her assigned seat and introducing herself. At one point the teacher was telling me about a notebook they put together all year long that we don't see until the end of the school year and I kept trying not to tear up because I just know that notebook is going to be so precious to me! Addison walked right in and said hi and started playing. She was singing and playing with toys. Several of the other kids were clinging to their parents and being shy. I really don't feel like Addison will have a problem being left there. But I know come Monday morning at drop off...this pregnant mommy is going to cry! (I'd cry if I wasn't pregnant, but this way I don't stand a chance!) Nathan is going in late to work that day so he can experience this with us. Unfortunately he couldn't make it today but he requested pictures from my phone. I'm very excited about this new phase but it's just another reminder of how quickly time flies!
Her teachers got a kick out of her putting a baby doll in each chair. But what they really loved was when she sang the clean up song and put them all back!
Of course you'll cry. :) I cried with both Landon and Noah their first years (and LCS last year with kindergarten), and I'm sure I'll cry this year with Lilah. Sounds like Addison is already a pro, and you'll enjoy watching her progress throughout the year. You'll also LOVE the break. ;) Good luck on Monday.
