This is a picture of our smoothies yesterday morning.
Today's included:
-avocado
-spinach
-a few strawberries
-banana
-couple spoons of plain organic yogurt
-splash of orange juice
-a spoon of organic honey
-ice
yum, yum :)
It really isn't bad! It did have a lot more avocado & spinach than it did fruit...but the plain yogurt and honey cover it up some too. Nathan is doing really well! I love that when he is on the road he's gone to places like Chick fil A and ordered a chicken sandwich with a fruit cup! I love that he only smiled yesterday when I said I was packing chips in his lunch but he was also getting carrots. (3 servings of carrots in the past few weeks as apposed to 0 in 8+ years!) I'm also proud that our salads are now made of spinach or other power greens instead of regular lettuce because a few months ago he didn't care for all spinach. :) Before you think I'm pushing him to the edge we had pizza and salads on Friday and Sunday for lunch he had "healthier" hot dogs on a wheat bun. Have I mentioned I'm proud of him?? We both weren't eating as healthy as we should have been for a long time. The difference is I actually liked most of these things but didn't make them because he wouldn't try them. He'll tell me if he really doesn't like something...such as the freeze dried fruit. He tried the peach and mango and said he really just didn't care for it.
I haven't had a coke in two weeks at least. Each day I still think about it occasionally. It's been hard having them in the house and denying myself but it gets better each day. As far as I know Nathan hasn't had in either but he wasn't addicted like I was. Chocolate...now that one has been the hardest. Just junk in general like ice cream, cookies, etc is very missed. Nathan and I were used to have treats a few times a week after the kids went to bed. Two weeks ago he brought home our favorite cookie from a local pizza place. I'm sure it's because I'm avoiding junk but it was more AMAZING than usual!! I have moments where chocolate is all I can think about about! So sad and tells me I'm doing the right. For us to even have chocolate or a sweet once a week is doing really well so for now that will carry us through. haha The cokes, I don't have a set time in mind but for now I'm drinking my coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day. Now I will not go so far as to give up wine and margaritas...that would just be crazy talk! *wink, wink*
