Addison will be four in May. She has started to transition out of naps. Except for rare days where she was up a lot in the middle of the night or up really early. Her days start usually very close to 5:45-6:10am! Yep, you read that right. She's always been an early riser. She went through a small phase where she was getting up at 7 or just after but for the past couple months she has been back to her early morning wake up time.
Once Addison stopped sucking her thumb, she was only napping for about 35-40 minutes. She would wake up in the WORST mood. I dreaded it. She would whine, cry, disobey, whine, cry, be disrespectful, cry, whine...the cycle for about an hour and half after her nap was not at all worth it for the few minutes of quiet I had in the house. It was frustrating and draining. So I started doing quiet time. We've tried book reading and playing in her room but the most rewarding for me, is to have her watch a show on my lap top and have a snack. It might not be ideal for some people but it works for us. It took a few days of her not having a nap and having trouble adjusting to get the hang of it. At first she was really whinny in the evening and now she's fine. She still wakes up the second the sun even things about waking up. :)
