There will be NO more microwave popcorn made in this house! The other day I was reading an article about how dangerous certain foods are to you. Some of them made I knew about...like milk and the hormones in them. Addison was already only drinking organic milk but to save money Nathan and I weren't. Well not any more, after further reading, we will only buy Organic milk. One thing on the list surprised me...microwave popcorn. The chemicals in the bag heat to toxic levels while in the microwave and get into the popcorn and can cause liver, testicular, and pancriatic cancer and the STEAM you breathe in when opening the bag is highly toxic and can lead to needing a lung transplant or even death!! Made sense after reading it. It alarmed me because my kids LOVE popcorn! We eat it several times a week at our house. I went out that night and bought an old fashioned popcorn maker at Wal Mart for $15 bucks. Bought a bottle of kernels for around $4. The kids like it and it tastes fine to us. It has a tray to melt butter if you want to do that or there are some seasonings you can buy. Besides avoiding all the toxins, we will be saving a lot of money in the long run!
I know that you can't avoid everything that's bad for you. I've already taken away resturaunts like McDonalds from my family, I've switched to natural cleaning products, only bathe my kids in natural soaps, etc. We can't spend our lives in fear or worrying all the time. But I can't knowingly do something that I now know could harm my family.
