My First Week With Hayden

I completed my first week with Hayden. Overall, I would give it a B+. The first day was awful because he didn't sleep hardly the whole time and he cried 90% of the time. As the week went on things got better. All the other days he has taken at least one longer nap. It really wouldn't be that bad if when he was awake he would be content without me having to walk or bounce him. Pretty tiring to do for several hours for this pregnant mom! Hayden arrives at 7:30 and leaves about 1:30. Honestly I don't think at this point I could do it all day so I'm glad this is the schedule we are on.

Addison has done really well with him! She isn't a fan of his crying and often goes into a panic mode of shouting, "Oh no! Baby Haydee crying!" over and over even though I'm right there. But other than that, she seems to really like him. She held him on the couch a couple of times, gives him smooches every day, and has been learning how to be very mothering with her baby dolls. It has been a little hard for me to see my attention being devoted so much to Hayden because she is so much easier to take care of. I've learned this week that any time he is content or asleep I go to her first before trying to do anything I need to do and just hug and kiss on her. And the afternoons have been more focused on us doing special things instead of what I may want or need to do because I don't want to her to feel replaced. I think this has been the reason she is doing so well with the new arrangement.

I will tell you this, I had days with Addison that I would think I was busy or stressed in the past. Now that Hayden has been here, I feel like watching just her in the afternoons is the easiest thing! haha So it's all relative. I think this is/has been wonderful for Addison and I. I'm learning what it is like with two and Addison is adjusting without a baby being here the whole time. Maybe by the time baby B arrives we will both be old pros!
