Baby B

I had a checkup with my midwife yesterday. As I was taking a shower I was looking at my belly and how much bigger it is getting and wondering what my weight would be. First I did the urine test, perfectly normal. Then the blood pressure, not sure what it was, but she said very good. Then it was time for the weight...right before I stepped on the scale in my head I said, "moment of truth". When I saw the scale, I thought "uh-oh". I was down 6ounces from four weeks ago and a pound from the appointment before that. So I knew Mrs. Rita wouldn't be too happy. I've heard that if you gain weight too fast they get onto you, but they aren't too happy if you go almost 14 weeks without gaining either. haha

Well she wasn't too happy about it but not really concerned. Rita told me she wasn't too worried about the weight but she is mostly concerned that baby wasn't getting enough nutrition because the only way to do that is to keep your food down. (Makes sense, huh?) I told her I was really surprised the scale didn't go up just because my belly seems to grow by the day. She said that is just because this is my second pregnancy so my body knows what to do this time and it always happens faster. So she prescribed me anther type of medicine to try for the sickness and she is having me do a food chart online for a little bit. The heart beat was right at 150 and of course I teared up. I just love it!! That is my favorite part about being pregnant is hearing the baby's heart beat. It makes getting sick a few times during the day and trying to drage myself to the appointment so worth it!

Nathan was probably the most upset about me not gaining and he asked me if I was worried about it. I explained that with Addison I was worried because I kept thinking how in the world is this baby going to be healthy if I can't keep anything down. She is one of the healthiest kids I know so I'm just not concerned. I know that once I get past this phase I will put on weight just fine. :)

  1. I didn't put on almost anything till about 20 weeks(maybe like 1-2 lbs.)...I always figured it was cause I was losing some weight while baby/water weight was gaining. ;) Hoping the new meds help though and you can feel better.
