Granddad

For those of you who do not know, Nathan's Granddad was taken from us very tragically last Thursday. The details of the case are still being straightened out and we still do not have a lot of answers. But from what we do know, it's very hard to hear or even believe.

I did not know Travis Sasser very well. I met him once after Nathan and I were married when we stayed for a weekend and then again when we took Addison to meet him last month. But from what I knew, I loved. He was such a sweet and loving man. He spent his whole life caring for his wife no matter what and taking care of his family. I've never seen such dedication. When I think about what happened to him I immediately think back to two things. I think about the joy that was all over his face the whole day we spent with him in April. He was so happy to have his family with him and it was obvious how much it meant. He loved playing with each of his four grandchildren that were there and he especially loved the little girls. He brought me a picture of Nathan's mother when she was a little girl and holding a straw in her mouth because Addison was playing with a straw so I sent him a picture of Addison holding her straw as soon as we got back. The other thing I think about is the sadness in his face when he was telling us goodbye. He hugged Nathan tightly and I saw the tears in his eyes. It meant so much to have his family come to visit because he wasn't able to leave Grandmother. Nathan and I agreed that we would be coming to visit very soon. That's probably the hardest to think about because we wont be able to do that.

Please be praying for our family. Pray that the man responsible for such a terrible act will be found guilty and receive punishment. Pray for peace for Nathan's mom because she has a long road ahead of her taking care of her mother and dealing with all of this. And please pray for peace for the whole family as we try and understand how something like this could happen to our family and such a gentle man.

Rest in Peace Granddad! You will be greatly missed! We love you!

  1. I'm so sorry Jen. I will be praying for Nathan's Family to find comfort and peace in Him. I know how hard that road is, it isn't easy. He sounds as though he was a great man!
