In case you didn't know how it works Jesus...

Every night either Nathan or I pray with Addison at bed time. I not really sure what Nathan prays but my prayers are often similar. I pray that she would have a great nice sleep with peaceful dreams, I pray against sickness, I thank the Lord for what a wonderful girl she is and how smart, I pray that she would have a heart after God and grow to be a Godly woman, I thank him that she is a good big sister, I pray that she will always know she is loved, etc...

Well a couple times recently before we've prayed, we've asked Addison to pray first. The other night I was in there and I asked her to pray and she said, "What do I say to Jesus?". I just told her that praying is talking to God. You can share with him, thank him for things, ask him for things that are on your heart, whatever you want. She replied, "Ok I want to talk about trick or treating!" A little chuckle came out of me but in earnest to see her learn to pray I said ok with a big smile. So she prayed, "Jesus, it's almost trick or treating time. When you trick or treat you get to dress up in a costume and get candy from people. If you get gum, you have to give it to your mommy but if you get chocolate you can keep it! Amen." What a precious little prayer, right? She did exactly what I asked her to do. She talked to God about what was on her heart. I believe that God loves people that don't just "go with the flow" and I think he truly appreciated a little girl learning to pray, sharing her heart, and being willing to talk about an issue controversial to Christians. *wink*

  1. That is adorable! I used to babysit this little girl (she was 4 at the time) and every night before bed, she would say The Lord's Prayer. It was so sweet! I can't wait until Kylie is old enough to pray. It's so special to know what's on their little minds.
