Try this 5 Minute Motherhood Plan

I read this little exercise and I gave it a try so I wanted to share.

Step 1: (1 minute) Write down one characteristic you want to describe you as a mom.
Step 2: (1 minute) Write down one characteristic you want your children to have as they go off to college.
Step 3: (3 minutes) Write down two simple ways that you can invest in those today.
Don't over think it. Just write it. Then do it.

For me:
1. Dedication - I want my children to describe me as a mom that was dedicated. That I was dedicated to the things that I was passionate about and believed in, but more importantly that I was dedicated to them.

2. Self Reliance - I want to train my children as they grow to be secure enough in themselves that they can go out into the world and know that they will be successful. That they will have confidence and not always be dependent on us even though we will always be by their side loving them.

3. How can I be dedicated to my children today? I can start by trying even harder to focus on them when I'm spending time with them. It's easy to be at home all day and still feel like I don't get to spend time with them. I will make a better effort today to listen, look them in the eyes when they talk, ask questions, encourage them, take time out to just be with them, and show them that I AM dedicated to them. - And to teach my children self reliance today, after encouraging them, I can nudge them to try it on their own and to praise their efforts once they have tried to do something without my help.

This was a neat exercise! You really have to do it quick because after I typed this I thought of so MANY other characteristics I want to describe me as a mom and that I want to instill in my children. So don't spend too much time on this! It's a cool way to take a couple minutes to improve yourself as a mother today. I'd love for you to comment below and tell me what your answers would be!
