Well I'm sure you're expecting some great post recapping all our events in Texas and lots of pictures, right?! Well it's not going to happen! haha I forgot my camera!!! My mom brought hers and we took a lot of pictures. I made sure to take some each day. However, she doesn't know how to download them onto her computer so it will probably be a long time before I get a hold of them. Sorry faithful readers. :)
The plane ride was fine for the most part. I had to get over my nursing in public fears. And of course Weston wants nothing covering him because he isn't used to being covered. Can't say I blame him...do you like eating your meals under a blanket?? Thankfully all our flights were early in the morning so most of the people sitting around me had their eyes closed. I just reminded myself it isn't about them, it's about my son and the few who might've noticed didn't say anything. (The first plane I sat next to an African American man about my age, second my mom, third a hispanic woman around 50 and a 40 year old military man, and forth my mom. Lots of exposure!) He would nurse on the way up to keep his ears from popping and then sleep for about 30 minutes. The first flight is real short and was easy. The second one is two hours long and that flight was more difficult each time keeping him entertained when he wanted to get down. The hardest part is me feeling so sick. Between the 5 hours or less of sleep each night before flying and motion sickness I was fighting it the whole time and didn't always win. :(
San Antonio was great. I LOVED seeing my grandmother!! It was nice getting to spend time with lots of other family too. Weston didn't sleep good the entire time we were there because he would wake up in his pack in play next to me and see me sleeping on the futon next to him and there was no going back. He slept off and on in the crib and then about half way through get in bed with me. Naps were always short and usually on the go. He did really great though!! Such a trooper all four days. He went to bed hours later than his bed time and his naps and meals were completely different and most of the time he kept a great attitude. I was worn out from carrying him everywhere. over 20 lbs gets heavy! We did a lot of walking...airport, shopping, farmers market, restaurants, more shopping, etc. I spent all of my spare time chasing him around saying no-no. Which by the end of the trip there were objects he learned were "no-nos" and he would crawl toward them...stop look at us, shake his head no, and smile and go after it. haha As of right now, he thinks no-no is a cool head shaking game.
I missed Nathan and Addison so much while I was gone!! The more I was there, the more I wanted them there. I know Addison would have had a blast! We skyped each day from my phone and Nathan's lap top so I could see them while we talked on the phone. That was so neat!! Can't wait to do that when Nathan goes out of town next time. Addison loved talking to Gram and her "Memaw" (mema, not sure how she spells it) She would have loved swimming, eating mexican, playing with Addie my cousin who is almost 4, riding on the plane. I really wish Nathan could have met all the family I saw at the family memorial. I hope that we can all go back to Texas soon.
I wish I were better at goodbyes, but I'm not. I stayed up real late even though I had to wake up at 3:30am because I just didn't want to say goodbye. I cried when I said goodbye to my grandmother. If it works out, I plan to take both kids out there to stay with her a couple of weeks one year.
I'm so grateful to my husband for allowing us to use that extra money to send me. It meant more than I can express and those are memories I will have forever. It was hard traveling with a baby and not a relaxing event, but spending time my family in my favorite place on earth is priceless! (Thanks again baby!!!)
I am so sorry that you got sick on the flight but really glad that the rest of your trip was wonderful!
