Weston turned 6 months old! Half of his first year is gone! At his check up, he weighed 18lbs 9oz and was over 28.25in long. Surprisingly he was only in the 50-60% for weight. I would have thought he was heavier than most 6 month olds. But in height he was 90% so he is taller than most of them. Overall health and milestones were great. However, he has fluid in both ears. Dr. Reams said it wasn't infected and was clear, but when he blew on it with a tool it didn't move. He is keeping an eye on it and wants to give it some time to heal on its own but asked me to bring him back in 3 weeks to check it again. He also prescribed some steroids for his chest for a few days because the cold he had over a month ago is still lingering in his chest even though there are no other symptoms. Maybe now he wont sound quite so much like an old man when he talks. :)
William-Weston at 6 months...
*Really starting to sit up better. Sometimes sitting straight up without supporting himself, can sit for several minutes, and then there time he topples over as soon as we sit him down.
*Gets upset if a toy is out of reach or dropped
*Recognizes mommy and daddy and has started being leery of strangers
*Bubbles and drool have taken on new levels! He now gets his tongue involved and just soaks his clothes if allowed
*Good eater!! So far he has had oatmeal, carrots, peas, and bananas. Each has been served with the oatmeal because I have a lot of frozen breastmilk and want to use it before it goes bad. He gets so excited about eating at times he barely opens him mouth for the spoon, he rolls his tongue into a straw and starts sucking as soon as it gets close! haha The other night he downed two good size portions of mommy-milk oatmeal, peas, and bananas!
*Seems to have excellent hearing and sight
*Wakes up happy every day. Squealing, laughing, kicking his legs...oh yeah and spitting. (Did I mention we're drowning in drool?)
*Plays a new game with his sister...She says, "Baby Weston can you say mama?" and he says "dada" and she laughs and he gets excited. They did this for several minutes yesterday. Nathan and I got such a kick out of how he responded to her each time! It was nice because it kept them entertained in the waiting room earlier this week too.
*loves playing peek-a-boo
*loves being outside still
*If he is fussing and Addison dances or sings for him, he always stops. (Too bad she isn't always wanting to preform when I need her too. haha)
*Two white teeth are poking through on the bottom
*Loves to be in a standing position in your lap
*Reaches for people he wants to go to
*starting to get more mobile. Not always sure how he manages to wiggle several feet away when I'm out of the room but if something he wants is out of reach he works to get it
*has become attached to a lovey
*no rhyme or reason, but wakes up 3 short times each night. I never know what times they will be and I'm only up about 10-15 minutes from his wake until I lay back down in my bed. So huge progress as far as we are concerned!
*hair is coming back in and jury is still out on which color it is
I can't believe my little man is growing so fast. I welcome each new thing, but after I'm done cheering I'm a little sad because I know this is my last baby and it's going by so fast. I've started appreciating his night wakings because they are so short and he is growing so fast I just cuddle my growing boy. I love using the phrase, "my son" or "son". I kept two boys for several years when I was a teenager and I dreamed of one day having a son. (On a side note though, I feel sorry for people that only have boys because girl stuff is so cute!! Shopping just isn't as fun!) Weston continues to be such a happy blessing. He has his days or moments of being in a bad mood, but don't we all?! I'm so thankful for him and honored God chose me to be his mom!
Addison singing to comfort and calm him down reminds me of Kayla's Noah. He would do that to keep Kate happy when she was about the same age. It was so sweet and unusual to see a little boy be so maternal over her--compassionate. Good thing you are keeping a blog to remember and look back on all these sweet times that pass too quickly!
ReplyDeleteHe has surpassed Kylie in height AND weight. You go, Weston! Kylie started being leery of strangers when we came home in December (she was 4 months) and has just recently started loving almost everyone immediately. So hopefully he'll get past it soon!
