Better Late than Never?

When you move, you have 60 days to get your license updated with your new address. When you get married, you also have 60 days to update with your new married name. Guess what I just did?? Yep...after over 4 years of having a new address (actually 3 new addresses) and over 3 1/2 years of marriage...I got my license updated today! haha

I have excuses...
When we got back from our honeymoon I went and had my name changed right away. Then when my social certificate and marriage certificate came in I went to the DMV of course it was Monday and they were closed. Well I put it off a few weeks and then I was pregnant and so sick every day so I didn't feel like it, then I had a baby and wasn't going to wait with her there. By our second anniversary I figured enough was enough. Nathan and I had a babysitter and we were going to get our license updated before doing anything else. Showed up and the room was packed and Nathan wasn't willing to wait. I wanted to do it then because it's rare that I have a sitter during the day. He assured me we would do it the next week. I know this sounds bad, but in my head I thought, "I wont say a word and I will see how long it takes for him to bring it up." Well, our third anniversary came around! haha And then I was on bed rest, then had a baby. So finally I knew that I was going to have to show my license for something this week and decided I just couldn't wait any longer. I nursed Weston, and took Addison to school and then left. Nathan worked from home until 10 when I got back. I was worried that I would have to pay some kind of fine. Not only didn't I have to a pay a fine, but I didn't have to pay at all! I did pay a dollar in cash because I donated it.

Speaking of donating...I was disappointed with the new system. The question to donate was just on the form. The first time I got my license the lady asked, "Would you like to donate a dollar to the blind?" and trying to be funny I said, "Well, I'll give a dollar, but I really don't think they should be driving!" That poor lady was shocked and said, "Oh no mam we don't let them drive!" haha

I'd say this must be some kind of record because who waits this long to do this? But I know that my sweet husband has at least beat me by one day now! At least when I'm asked to verify my id for a credit card I wont be asked, "Oh, did you just get married?" That always bothered me when I'm standing there with my children. :)

  1. Haha! This really made me laugh, especially the last 2 sentences. I got my last name changed on my license right after Chris and I got married but the address on my license is the address we had at Quail Rise in late 2007!
