Slowly but surely

Weston slept in his bed last night! (pack in play next to mine) Not the whole time, but off and on. But that is the first time since his very first night of being born! I've been working hard to get him to sleep in his bed during nap time. The secret I have found is...he's a tummy sleeper. Yep folks, it's true. I was so against Addison sleeping in her tummy that when she started rolling over on her tummy I kept going in there to turn her back over. Years ago they said to let them sleep on their tummy and now they say only their side or back and never stomach. This time I feel more at peace about it. I've watch him while he slept and he can be laying one way, pick his head all the way up, and then turn the other way so I think he is ok. I did sleep better the couple of hours he wasn't in the bed with me, but part of me missed my cuddle bug. But my ultimate goal is to get my husband off the couch and back in the bed with me. :)

  1. When Kylie was in the NICU, every day when we'd get there, she was sleeping on her side. I didn't ever think it was a big deal but when we told her pediatrician a few days after she was released from the NICU that she liked to sleep on her side, she said it wasn't good to let her do that. However, even when we'd lay Kylie on her back, she'd pull up her legs and roll to her side. I understand that experts say tummy-sleeping and side-sleeping are associated with SIDS but we all slept on our tummies back in the day! Sometimes I think people try to be TOO careful. There are so many things people did/didn't do 100 years ago that we're expected to do/not do now during pregnancy and with our babies, and I think some of it is just unnecessary. I think all babies are different, and some (like Weston) just like to sleep on their tummies. And if that's what you have to do to get him to sleep more, you go for it! It will help when he starts doing tummy time, too. Kylie HATES tummy time, haha. I don't get to do it as much as I know I'm "supposed" to so hopefully she won't fall behind.
