An early check up

Weston had his one month check up last Friday even though he had just turned 3 weeks old. His doctor wont be here next week so we went early. I had actually weighed him the day before and was going to call it in and skip the appointment because his doctor told me I could if he was doing well. He weighed 10 lbs, 4 oz. But he has had this rash on his back and I noticed when I was bathing him that it was getting worse so I decided to take him in. He weighed 10 lbs 6oz! (less than 24 hours later) His length is 22 3/4inches. What a growing boy! He has gained almost two pounds and an inch and a quarter in length in three weeks. Doctor commented before the physical exam that with a weight gain like that we aren't likely to find any problems. Just like Addison, he seemed impressed with Weston's newborn strength. I guess we make strong babies! haha The rash he said was a real bad case of newborn acne and that I could put some hydrocortisone cream on it but the acne on his face just has to clear up by itself.

Breastfeeding is obviously going well in terms of supply and stuff. Still waiting on this right side to heal even though I've been nursing from it along with pumping. During the night, he nurses like a dream! Latches on and just goes until he is done. During the day is ok, but the evenings drive me nuts. He wants to nurse, does it for a few seconds, then rips himself off and starts crying. (hurts bad!) But then he wants right back on. I'm not sure if he is just really tired or what the deal is but I hope he grows out of it because it really does hurt and it's frustrating because we do this for the last couple of hours before he is ready for bed. But all the nursing is helping him sleep longer that first stretch. A little over 3 1/2 hours last night!! And then about two and half the next time and then an hour. haha

We attempted to go out for Nathan's birthday with some friends Friday night. Big mistake. I should have known better because the evenings are our harder times and the whole nursing/ripping thing. From the moment we sat down he was crying and the fun began. I eventually spent most of the time in the car and it just kept getting worse. I couldn't soothe him so we eventually just left. Yesterday we took both the kids to Tallahassee. We had several errands to do and eat lunch. The day was much longer than we thought it would be! But overall, it went much better than the night before. By the end of the day both kids had passed their limits and the car ride home was not fun, but we managed to get everything done that we needed to. Now that Nathan has discovered buying in bulk at Sams, we will be making lots of trips. And the good news is, each time we go Weston will be older so eventually it will get easier. :)

  1. I'm a Sam's addict. Really. We eat so much fresh food that it makes so much more sense to buy in bulk: lettuce, spinach, 'maters, 'shrooms, red onions, avocados, sandwich meat, feta cheese, lemon juice, sandwich cheese, TP, etc.

I so need to go. I just hate for money to be so tight that the gas to get there competes with the money saved!

I think I'm hittin' it Tuesday though.

It's much more difficult with little ones like you have though. I didn't start shopping there until my "Littles" were bigger. =)
