Hard to live up to that woman...

This is to my woman readers...

Have you ever read Proverbs 31 and felt a little overwhelmed? The chapter is explaining the "Example" wife and how wonderful and rare she is. How she wakes up long before the sun to prepare breakfast for her family, works all day doing countless things, reaches out to poor, works a vineyard with her hands, makes clothes to sale at the market and keep her family warm, knows how to spend money wisely, disciplines her children and raises them to follow the Lord, and is the last one to go to bed. He explains that the woman does all of this with joy and eagerness to please her family!

Personally, reading it is a little daunting to me because I am not a early morning person and have spouts of feeling overwhelmed just by the things I have to do. There isn't any way I could fit in all that the Proverbs 31 Wife does every day. But when I was praying after reading, I realized something very clearly about this wife...the main point here is that she RESPECTS GOD AND PLEASES HIM WITH HER EVERY ACTION BECAUSE OF HER ATTITUDE AND HEART. And that God isn't asking us to run ragged for our family all day, but to be the kind of woman who uses our time wisely and to have a heart that is pleasing to God. To serve our family with a happy heart because actions of service done in anger might as well not be done at all.

Isn't it nice to know we don't have to be perfect? It's a good thing because I know I've far from it! :)

  1. I know what you mean. The one thing I dislike is having my children wake me up. I would love to be awake before anyone else in the house and have some quiet time, but when the alarm goes off.. I just turn it off.
