Small news, bigger news, and the absolute best news ever!!

Ok first off...Addison is drinking straight milk! Still warmed up a little, but straight milk. Just got rid of formula! She wouldn't touch regular milk at first. So over the process of FOUR months, I was mixing the ratios down until finally it is just milk. Thank the Lord for not having to buy formula anymore!

Secondly...Addison drinks her milk in a cup!!! A big break through because up until a couple weeks ago she absolutely refused to drink it in anything other than a bottle. I'd pour it in a cup, she would take a sip and give it back saying no. Kept crying if I tried so then I'd put in a bottle and she would drink the whole thing. Silly girl. And then I got her down to a sippy cup at night and bottle in the morning. But for the past three days she has been drinking both in a cup! So I threw all the bottles away! (It was such a victory, I don't care if I have to buy new ones later on for our other children! haha)

And last but certainly not least....Addison Grace Gamble is a Napper!!! (Just so you know I'm crying tears of joy now that I saw it in print.) This has been the longest and hardest 16 month battle. I read books, tried countless different things, asked doctors and others, prayed, and cried many tears over her not napping. And as I've said before, you have NO idea what's it's like to have a baby that doesn't nap unless you've been there. No idea. It tries your every Patience if you are home all day and never get a break. And it isn't the same if your baby used to nap. She never did for me. But she does now!! I have been scared to tell yall because I am so afraid I'm going to wake up one morning and it will go back to way it was. But it started when we went to the beach. We wanted to hang out in the room or lay out or whatever. so I would put her in our regular bed and lay down. When she would fall asleep I would lay pillows all around and turn the monitor on. (we have a video one) And she would take a long nap all by herself. So I decided I would try this at home and it worked! She still sleeps in her bed at night without any problems. Never cries and goes right to sleep in her crib. But at nap time, I lay her down in my bed, lay beside her until she falls asleep which is 5 minutes or less, and I surround her with pillows, and walk out. She sleeps for 1 1/2 hours to 2! Occasionally, more! I could not be more happier about this. It is awesome!! I never knew what other moms got to experience. During her nap I am able to do laundry, clean up all around the house, and then have time to sit and do something I want to do. I've read some days, worked on my scrapbook, and more. In some ways, I guess people could judge and say that she should sleep in her own bed or that Addison won. But I could care less what those people think. In my opinion, we both have won! It has helped me to be a better mom because I'm not as worn out. I feel like I have more time to dedicate to just her because I am able to play and teach since I already got things done or know I will have the time later. And I get a break to breathe and enjoy peace and queit. I could go on and on about how AMAZING this is, but I will stop here. I just had to share because I am still so excited. It has been going on for two and half weeks. (Lord, please let it continue!!)

  1. So happy that Addison is napping! It's funny b/c I was going to suggest you start letting her nap in your bed or get an air mattress or something to put on the floor. Who cares that she's not in her own bed?!?! She sleeps there at night, and now she NAPS!!! Hooray for you (oh yeah, and Addison). :)
