We are coming up on 5 years of marriage and almost 8 years since we started dating. I fell in love with his character, but I must say, I'm much more in love with the character of the man I'm married to now, than the man he was back then. I couldn't deny for a second that I have high expectations when it comes to the father I wanted/want for my children. I know that I push Nathan farther and farther and challenge him. (Perhaps more than he imagined.) More than being a good person or good husband, it is important to me that he be a good father.
Just like anything he sets his mind to...he excels. He doesn't back down, he doesn't give up, he pushes farther to be the best father that he can be to our children. He is a very busy man and there are a lot of little things he has to miss, but he always tries to be there for the important things. I love the special moments...the ones where he breaks into a silly dance and song, chases the kids over and over again just to hear their laugh one more time, when he reads them a story, when he teaches them things. I love to see him do things out of character just to bring his children joy.
He's tough yet loving. His faithfulness to me and respect is showing them what type of man to be and what type of man to marry later. He tells us he loves us every day, but more importantly he shows us. Nathan often puts aside the things he loves for the people he loves more.
A little over four years ago, Nathan became a dad. I know it's harder than he expected. Heck it's harder than I expected and I had a lot more experience! haha I love that he just keeps getting better and better with them! I love that he already thinks of himself as a father to three and can't wait for our son in Honduras to be home! I love that no matter what bitter feelings I might have about Father's Day...I have so much to rejoice for!
First time holding Addison Grace.
Almost immediately after I brought Weston out of the water in the birthing pool. (Any dad that supports his wife in a home birth and extended breastfeeding deserves props in my book!!)
